iOS vs Android
Renowned for its hardware and software being made by the same company, Apple Inc, iPhones running iOS operating systems have some high points and some flaws when being compared to Android. But lets lay out the facts first. iOS houses Siri, a voice-operated "personal assistant" living in your phone. It supports 34 languages and it's app store harvests over 1 million apps. It's operating system and its hardware are by the same company, Apple Inc, and it has built-in Safari.
Android operates on multiple types of phones, including Lenovo, Galaxy, Nexus, LG, and HTC, etc. Android houses Google Now, the new Android voice assistant, and supports 32 languages, and offers an equal amount of apps to Apple. It has Google web browser, and has Google built-in to many features of the phone. Its users have also been enjoying a Back button, and low-battery mode for many years longer than those with iOS.
As Android's appearance is bold and chunky, whereas iPhone is elegant and minimalistic. As iPhone, and Apple itself, is renowned for allowing minimal customization, you can redesign Android pixel by pixel if you wanted. Even if you don't like Android's SMS app or Android dialer, you can swap it out for a different app. With iOS, if you don't like it, that sucks, cause you're stuck with it exactly as it is. However, iOS's security is unmatchable. No matter how much you tell Siri, she won't tell the Apple Inc, and the fact that the OP and the hardware are both by Apple Inc play a leading factor in keeping your information within one system. As iOS frequently sends out software updates, which are easy to download, Android users (besides those with Nexus) have it harder to download updates, which are much less frequent. The fact that Android has cloud-based and overarching Google built-in makes it very easy to go from Android to Chrome to iOS, whereas Apple users find it difficult to use anything but Apple devices.
Calculated by the Kantar WC, 51% of all phones sold in 2012 were Android, outnumbering iOS, with only 46% of all total sales. In the same year, however, tablet shipments of iOS tablets, like the iPad, were 54% of all shipments, and 43% of all shipments were Android. Overall, statistics display Android as the leading Operating System, though iOS isn't trailing far behind.
